In view of the recent controversy concerning the effect of broadcasting upon the concert world, interest is added to the announcement that the new Broadcasting Corporation will consider a proposal to subsidise the British National Opera Company, which in return will agree to broadcast weekly excerpts from grand opera.
An opera official states that the company is unable to exist w-ithout a subsid v.
