The Master Builders’ Association to? night discussed an intimation from the Labour Department that a committee comprising representatives of those engaged in the boys’ welfare work had been established for the purpose of endeavouring to prevent boys from going into "blind alley” occupations. The memo stated that in looking up the returns in connection with the carpenters’ and' joiners’ trade, it wae found that a considerable number of employers had failed to accept their responsibility in 1 the training of apprentices. It was decided to. communicate with all members of the, association drawing attention to the apprentice question and urging employers to engage their full quota of apprentices.
