“SCARCELY NORMAL”
MAN’S STRANGE ACTIONS. Auckland, Nov. 13. The Rotorua correspondent of the Star telegraphs: At the Magistrate’s Court this morning, William Francis McNeil was charged with having assaulted a married woman at Pongakawa. The accused called at the complainant’s house, which is isolated, late at night, and made himself at home. She was too frightened to order him out. The accused, it was alleged, entered her room to reassure her, as he recognised that she was frightened. She then scratched his face and ordered him out, and he went. Later McNeil informed her husband, of the occurrence, and promptly had his eye blackened. The magistrate, Mr. Kenrick, remarked that McNeil was hardly normal. The fact of his telling the husband was in his favour. He w-ould be convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within twelve months. He was also ordered to pay £5 16s expenses. The accused thanked the magistrate, adding that he had relieved an aching heart.
