DIPLOMATIC SERVICE

CLOSED TO NEW ZEALANDERS. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Sydney, Nov. 16. Mr. F. W. Platts, S.M., of New Zealand,, arrived at Sydney by the steamer Ville de Verden from Europe. Mr. Piatts investigated the possibility of Dominion subjects entering the diplomatic service and other professions in view of the changed status of the Dominions. He said that the diplomatic service was closed to the Dominions, and access to the Indian Civil Service was about as difficult. It was easier to enter the army’ or navy. He found the professions in Britain overcrowded, and the sons of professional men were now often looking to the Dominion for a living.
