TROUBLE ON THE KAPONGA

EXTRA LABOUR AVAILABLE.

After a conference of the Union Steam Ship Company’s representatives, the seamen and the dissatisfied members of the Kaponga’s crew, the captain arranged to aeeept the men’s notices, the officers and engineers speaking highly of the cook with whom the men declined to sail. Labour is plentiful and no difficulty is expected in filling the vacancies. The Kaponga is expected to sail'this afternoon.

The trouble with the stokehold staff of the steamer Kaponga was settled, and the vessel sailed for Napier at 4 o’clock this afternoon. The cook to whom the men objected remained on board, but four of the objectors left the shin and were replaced.
