FEDERAL ELECTINS.

NO NEW DEVELOPMENT. FINAL RESULT DOUBTFUL. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. ’Sydney, Dec. 20. Election figures are still trickling in without materially affecting the state of parties. Much depends on the drift of the country votes when the preferences are being distributed. The position is still in such a fluid condition that the papers continue to alter their estimates at short notice. The Herald now gives the Nationalists 31, Labor 24, the Country Party 13, with five seats still doubtful. The Telegraph anticipates that the new Parliament will consist of 33 Nationalists, 26 Labor, 14 Country Party, one Liberal, one Independent. The Daily Mail gives Labor 28, the Nationalists 25, the Country Party 11, the Liberals two, Independents one. doubtful eight. . The Senate figures are etill insufficiently advanced and the position too complex even to venture an estimate, beyond that Labor appears likely to strengthen its position in a new Parliament.

Received Dec. 20, 9.45 p.m. Sydney, Dec. 20. Although the counting of the first preference votes is complete, except for postal votes, which must be disposed of before the second preference votes are dealt with, there is no definite change in the state of parties.
