LIFE-SAVING SOCIETY.
TARANAKI HEAD CENTRE. The Taranaki Head Centre of the Royal Life-Saving Society met at New Plymouth last night. Present: Messrs. A. R. Standish (chairman), A. R. Davis. S. Corkill, L. Frethey, M. Stagpoole, W. Brown, R. Howell, R. Morrison. W. N. Stephenson, E. C. Coleman, and F. J. Eggleton (joint secretaries), and Miss M. Mathen A number of apologies were received. An application for affiliation received from the Inglewood Swimming and LifeSaving Chib was granted. The Dominion Executive Council advised that the Government had promised a grant of £5O towards the provision of medals for life-saving competitions. The Canterbury Head Centre asked for nominations for officials for the Wigram Shield and the Nelson Surf Shield championships, which will be competed for at the Dominion Life-Sav-ing championships at Timaru next month.—Received. A proposal to heat the baths at Kawaroa was briefly discussed, and it was decided to communicate with the Dunedin and Auckland bathe committees Requesting information concerning the methods of heating used and costs. The holding of a gala day at the baths was also discussed. A sub-com-mittee was appointed to meet the New Plymouth Swimming Club to fix a date and to make arrangements for the holding of the Taranaki championships and the Hughes Cun competition.
Mrs. H. Avery, Misses F. Brown and Z. Saxton, and Mr. M. Sutherland were appointed examiners under the society’s rules.
