MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
NEW PLYMOUTH SITTING. Before Mr. A. M. Mowlem, S.M.. at the New Plymouth Magistrate’s Court yesterday, judgment by default waf awarded plaintiff in the following cases:— Robert Hughes v. Vincent Rielly, £2 6s 8d (costs 15s); Ridd Co., Ltd. v. H. W. Milner, £1 19s (costs 8s) ; K. Anthony v. J. W. Clotworthy, £25 14s lid (costs £3 Is). In a judgment summons case brought by R. Schultz against F. A. de Chateau, debtor was ordered to pay the amount owing (£9 16s) forthwith, in default 9 days’ imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended as long as the sum of £1 per month was paid off the debt. In the case of Anne Simons v. Con Marquis (judgment summons) defendant stated he was a casual laborer, having no assets or interest in property. He would pay in full whenever he obtained regular employment. Debtor was examined, but no order was made. The defence department (Lieut. Leslie W. Andrews) proceeded against Ernest I-eo George and John Jervis George for failure to register for military training in this district. Thdefaulters were fined £1 each (costs 7fi). Walter Bright, charged with a breach of the Arms Act, in that he had in his possession an unregistered shot-gun and rifle, was convicted and fined £1 (costs 7s). No order was made for confiscation. Nellie Louisa Gilbert proceeded against Robert Gilbert for disobedience of a maintenance order. The case was adjourned from last sitting. Arrears were admitted. Defendant was convicted and sentenced to one month’s imprisonment, the warrant to he suspended as long as current maintenance was paid punctually and 8s per week paid in reduction of the amount in arrears.
