Humphrey, Broadway, Stratford. Orders for papers may also be left with him. THE DRUIDS’ LODGE. Dec. 14. The half-yearly meeting of the Druids’ Lodge was held in the Forresters’ Hall on Tuesday night, there being about 80 present, including visitors from Patea, Hawera, Eltham, Inglewood and Auckland. The balance-sheet presented by the secretary showed that the activities and membership of the lodge were steadily increasing. Th* l district president, Bro. Ure, installed the various officers for tne current term as follows: J.P.A., Bro. W. Ferguson; Arch Druid, Bro. J. Aitken: V.A., Bro. B. Jeffares; secretary, Bro. J. W. B. Jones (re-elected); treasurer, Bro. H. Burmester (re-elected); 0.G., Bro. H. Martin; LG., Bro. C. Hyndman; A.D.8., Bros. B. Rowe and E. Mumby; V.A.8., Bros. W. Wilson and W. Grubb. The lodge closed and adjourned, when a lengthy toast list was dealt with. Bro. C. Fox led the members in a community sing, and he also played th,e accompaniments. The following contributed songs: Bros. H. Martin, R. Ure, C. Fox, C. Hyndman. J. Aitken, and T. Richardson. Recitations were given by Bros. E. Mumby. T. Smith, E. D. Evans, R. Hegarty and Dnnkley. SCOUTS’ ACTIVITIES. The scouts’ sports meeting to be held on the Stratford A. and P. grounds on January 25 is expected to be the greatest scout event ever held in Taranaki. The scoutmasters at Waitara, New Plymouth, Inglewood. Eltham, Hawera, Kaponga and Opunake are being communicated with and large entries are expected from each place. It is proposed to hold ambulance, bridge-building, and signalling competitions, beside other athletic events. Special provision is being made for competitions among the. girl scouts, the maypole dance competition being an item of interest. The proceeds of the meeting will be devoted to the building fund. About forty names have been given m by scouts intending to go into camp ok the banks of the Waiwakaiho river on January 1. GENERAL ITEMS. Mr. A. W. Reid, a well-known resident of Stratford, who has been to the Old Country on a health -recruiting trip, returned’to Stratford last night great.y improved in health. The primary school’s annual concert in the Town Hall to-morrow (Friday) night should bp a success if the painstaking rehearsals may be taken as a criterion. The items will include a debate by the boys on the education o The sports committee’s final dance of the season will be held in the Pansn Hall on Monday night. During the Mardi Gras campaign this committee ! established a reputation for the dances it conducted, so that the final dance >s expected to be something special. Miss Hall’s orchestra has been engaged and the Marble Bar Company will have charge of the catering. An especially interesting list ot articles are advertised to be sold by 1. Lamason at his mart to-morrow (Saturday). Details appear elsewhere. Particulars of the auction sale to be held by the P.A.C. on Saturday appear in this issue. .
