KAPONGA.
MAGISTRATE’S COURT. (From Our Own Correspondent.) A sitting of the Magistrates Cour' was held by Mr. A. M. Mowlem, S.M. on Monday, when the following case! were before the Court:
CIVIL CASES. Sam Sampbell obtained judgment against Charles Warn for £7 13s and costs. The following judgment orders were made: G. P. Wara to pay J. McDavitt £4 9s by instalments of 10« a month, ITanahi Poata to pay Hughson and Sons £9 2s 3d in February. S. H. Alvis to pay £3 18s fid to J. G. Rutherford at the rate of 5s a week. No order was made against A. Tulloek in respect of a judgment, obtained by J. G. Rutherford for £5 8s fid. debtor having n»ne children to maintain. Geo. was ordered to pay L. J. Fischer £27 14s forthwith, in default 14 days’ imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended on payment of £l4 before January 23 and thi» balance before February 5. OTHER CASES. John Arthur Orbell pleaded guilty to. failing to attend military parades. The : case was adjourned. Geo. Benton was convicted of unlawfully delivering a pea-rifle to Cecil Benton, and ordered to pay costs. As the result of what the police described as a “Donnybrook” at Rahotu, arising out of an accusation of the theft of beer. Thomas McKenna was fined £3 for threatening behaviour, and £1 for assaulting Skipper Tuta; Harry Anderson was fined £1 for threatening behaviour, a similar charge against Tuta being dismissed. Maggie Lamb, charged with being an idle and disorderly person, was remanded for medical treatment.
