(From Our Own Correspondent.) Little ceremony was observed at the official opening of tho Inglewood swimming baths for. -the 1922-23 season on Thursday. The Mayor (Mr. J. R. Suth-' erland) drew attention to the care that had’been taken to prepare the bath and hiiildings for the season’s use, and to value that such an institution was to- the people of the district; ■ enlarging on the benefits derived fMflr a knowledge of swimming and habit of bathing. He stated that Mr. Knight was prepared to take pupils who wished to learn to swim, and that Mr. Lyall had determined to encourage the school pupils to acquire the art, both by tuiton and example. He stated a swimming club was being formed here, which he felt sure would receive generous support. The memorial tablet commemorating the 137 men from Inglewood and district, who gave their lives in the Great War, will be unveiled at a service to be held in the Inglewood Town TTall on Sunday next. At 2 p.m. the Mayor will extend a welcome to General Sir E. M . Chaytor, C.M.G.. who will the memorial. Tne Ven. Archdeacon Evans will dedicate the memorial.
