WEDDING.

WHALEN—SCOTT. A very pretty wedding took place at the Presbyterian Church, Manaia, on November 29, when Violet the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H Whalen, of Kapuni, was married to Air. J. Scott, second'son of Air. and Mrs. Scott, of Matapu. The Rev. J. D. Smith officiated and Miss Bridge, presided at the organ. The bride looked very charming. Her dress was white silk with overdress of georgette and pearl trionmings, and she wore a handmade embroidered v4*il and orange blossoms and carried a lovely bouquet of white flowers and ferns. She also wore a brooch that was presented to her great grandmother over SO years ago by Lord O’Neil, of Belfast, Ireland. Miss Ada Evans, cousin or the bride, was chief bridesmaid and looked very nice in pale lemon crepe de chine embroidered with silk and hat to match, and carried a bouquet of white and lemon roses and ferns. Miss Edie Brisco, cousin of the bride, wore a dainty frock of cream net edged with silk lace and. embroidered with pale pink silk, and hat to match, and carried a pretty bouquet of pale pink sweet peas and ferns. Miss Myrtle Whalen, sister of the bride, wore cream net and silk lace and carried a basket of pink and white roses and ferns. Air. J. Porvis acted as best man and Air. Cyrils Whalen, brother of the bride, groomsman. After the ceremony a reception was held in the Kapuni Hall, where the wedding breakfast was laid. There was a very big assemblage of friends, and the usual toasts, were duly honoured. After the breakfast the -happy couple left by car to spend their honeymoon at Wanganui. The bride’s travelling dross was a brown coat and dress trimmed with fawn and white hat. The threedecker cake and the bouquets were the gift of the bride’s aunt, Airs, Evans, of Auroa. —Star.
