GAOL FOR VAGABOND.
A CHRISTCHURCH INCIDENT. By Telegraph.—Press Association Christchurch, Dec. 12. Frank • Halligan, aged 25. was sentenced to a year’s imprisonment on a charge of being a rogue and vagabond. Evidence was given that he climbed the gates of the hospital at 2 a.m. on Sunday and wandered through the nurses’ bedrooms, wakening several. In one rasp he endeavored to kiss the nurse. His defence was that he went to the home to propose to his young lady, but the young lady in question gave evidence that she had made no arrangement. as alleged, for a nocturnal visit.
