Many of the new Labor members are finding that they cannot make ends meet on £4OO per year, especially those from distant constituencies. One points A out that the fares for a week-end visit home cost £4. lodgings, taeala and 1 travelling in London £4 10s, leaving him out of pocket, without allowing anything for the maintenance of his wife and family. The Evening Standard points out that the Labor Party consist** of three sections—the ’ itelligentsia, possessing either private means or literary earning power, trade union officials drawing an extra £250 a year, and the newest memibers, who left positions in business to enter politics. The last class are finding themselves hard hit. The latest suggestion is the establishment of a residential club in order to reduce poor members’ London expenses. —Aiie.-N.Z. Cable Association.
