An afternoon’s sport for the young people was held in Victoria Park to-day, under the direction of Mr. John Hopkins, organiser of the Mardi Gras. A large number of children gathered and thoroughly enjoyed a number of competitive events. Mrs. Ferguson and Misses Black and Milne gave valuable assist ance.

PLUNKET SOCIETY. At the committee, meeting of the Plunket Society yesterday the district nurse reported as follows:—Stratford; Visits to office, adults 140, babies 120, homes RG. Eltham: Visits to office, adults 94, babies 82, homes 55. Total visits to office, adults 234 against 109, babies 202 .against 88, homes 141 against 73 last year. A vote of thanks was passed to Mesdames Abraham and Masters, Mies Mackenzie, Messrs. Newton King, and Stratford Motors, Ltd., for their assistance in making the rest tent at the A. and P. Show such a success. The two first-named ladies reported that the tent was patronised by 400 mothers and babies, and that £1 0s 9d was collected by voluntary donations. A vote of thanks was passed to Mrs. Cuthbert for her loan of £5O to the society, free of interest for three months and at 4 per cent, after that time.

It was resolved, on the motion of Mrs. Reira and seconded by Mrs. Cuthbert, that in future the sugar of milk be sold for 2s per packet both in Eltham and Stratford: also the Plunket cream be sold at 2s 3d per lb. The following new members were added: Mesdames Ball, Powell, Vesty and Wood.

Donations were acknowledged as follows: Mrs. Ball £l, Mrs. Jones 2s 6d, Mrs. Perry 10s, Mrs. Sole 4s 64, Mrs. Jenkinson 10s, Rev. Neale £1 Is, Messrs. Kleeman, Bishop and Co. £5 ss, towards cost of car. The following will represent the Stratford Cricket Club in their match against Midlands at Hawera on Saturday: Beale, Cole, Furrie, Gatton. Hale, Massev. Redmond, Richmond, Stonewigg, Thomas, Young. Reserves: Beere, Hill, Milner. All the latest Magazines and Periodical, Fashion Books, the “Best Way” series, etc.. etc.; Collins’ Diaries for 1923; now on sale at W. H. Humphrey’s, Broadway, Stratford. The residents of Stratford and district are notified that Erneet Davies, the London qualified sight-teeting optician, visits Stratford every Tuesday, and may be consulted at Mr. Gaffaney’s, Broadway. Hours: 9.30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
