CALF-REARING.
BOYS’ AND GIRLS’ COMPETITIONS. The following is the programme for the judging of the calves entered in the calf-rear-ing competition being conducted in connection with the boys and girls’ agricultural clubs in the northern division. The schools have been divided Into groups, as follow: Group I: Tlkorangl, Waiau, Urentii, Mimi, Motunul, Waltara. Group II (a) : Huirangl, Lepperton, Norfolk, Tariki. Group II (b) : Kalniata, Tarata. Group III: Fitzroy, Bell Block, Hillsborough, Albert, Vogeltown, i Boys’ High School, Frankley, Omata. Group i IV: Tataralmaka, Okato, Newall, Pungarehu, Rahotu. JUDGING. Awards will be made for (a) condition; (bj cost of food; (c) record chart. Judging will be carried out on the following dates, weather and other circumstances permitting: December 11.—All judges meet at New Plymouth for the purpose of judging calves entered in Group 111, thus enabling each judge to obtain a standard on which to base his future awards. December 12.—Calves entered in Groups I and II (a) are to be assembled at their respective schools, and there judged for Ist, 2nd and 3rd in the schools. December 13.—Calves entered in Groups II (a) and IV to be assembled at their respective schools and judged for Ist, 2nd and 3rd, as above. Note.—Schools will be visited in the order of names set out in the groups, commencing with the first school at 9 a.m. or thereabouts. Group Judging—Calves awarded Ist, 2nd 1 and 3rd at each school to be assembled at following group centres and judged for Ist, 2nd and 3rd in respective groups. December 14.—Group I, Motunul School (morning) ; Group IV, Warea School (afterDecember 15.—Groups II (a) and II (b), nt. Inglewood. Championship (December 18). —Ail group winners (Ist, 2nd and 3rd) to assemble at Waiwakalho Showgrounds at 11 a.m. and there be judged for championship. Calves awarded Ist, 2nd and 3rd at each school in Group 111 are also to assemble at Showgrounds at 11 a.m., and be judged for group winners prior to championship.
