DEATH AND LIFE TERMS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Nov. 14, 10 p.m. Washington, Nov. 13. The Supreme Court has confirmed the rigorous sentences of the Philippine High Court condemning eleven members of the Philippine Constabulary to death and 66 to a sentence of life imprisonment in chains. The incident arose through a quarrel between the Manilla police and the constabulary. the latter charging the police with insulting a constable’s wife. A fight ensued, and one constable was killed. The court sentenced eleven constables to life imprisonment in chains and 66 to imprisonment in chains for 17 years. The prisoners escaped incarceration, but were recaptured. The Court then increased the sentence to the limit.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
