THE WAIPAWA SEAT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Waipawa, Nov. 14. Mr. Langridge.. Liberal-Labor candidate for Waipawa, opened his campaign here last night, in a speech strongly condemnatory of the unbusinesslike methods of the present Government. He was particularly severe on the railway administration and urged the need for reconstruction in the High Commissioner’s office. The sneaker was accorded a unanimous vote of thanks and confidence. THE RIGCARTON' SEAT. Wellington, Nov. 14. Mr. G. Witty, opening his campaign for Riccarton, said he had represented the electorate for twenty years. He strongly criticised the Labor Party, declaring he. would rather vote for Mr. Massey than with the Reds. He quoted the Liberal record to show that Mfr. Masaey had never repealed any of its legislation, except the Second Ballot Act. Strikes were wrong, and would cease if the heads of the unions and the secretaries had to receive strike .pay. Ho criticised the immigration and housing policies, condemned the military system and the money spent on the ’Chatham, advocating aeroplanes and torpedo boats. He favored the nationalisation of the ferry service and its working as part of the railway system. MR. MASSEY’S STRATFORD MEETING. A Stratford correspondent writes: — The meanest act noted ait the Stratford Town Hall on Fr.iday, when the Prime Minister addressed the citizens, was that of a prominent man in appropriating a reporter’s chair, and allowing the reporter to crouch over his table to make his notes throughout the address. The unruly rush of Reform opponents to monopolize seats -rezerved for Mr. Hine’s election committees was fairplay compared to the action of this man, who sat in comfort, with seemingly •mug contempt for the greatest statesman in the Southern Hemisphere. This matter has been reported to the Stratford Political Reform League, and probably more may be heard about it.
