WESTOWN CHURCH FUND.

SUCCESSFUL SALE OF WORK. Residents of Westown have for some time past been working wth the. object of raising funds for the erection of an Anglican church in the district. The ladies have taken a very active part in the matter, and, with Mrs. W. H. Haddrell as organiser, have been working assiduously preparing for a fancy fair and sale of work, which took place in the Westown Hall on Saturday. It proved a great success, the sum of over £6O being taken. The hall had been prettily decorated by a. number of willing workers, and suitably prepared to adequately display the numerous good things that had been freely donated by the residents. There was a large attendance throughout the day and evening, good business being done. The fair was opened by Archdeacon Evans, in the absence of the Mayor (Mr. F. E. Bran Tub and Fish Pond.—Masters Ray Kidd and Eric Tonks. Afternoon Tea.—Miss Reube, Mesdames R. Wright, Hemingway, Misses Wright, Orbell and P. Godupp. Entertainment and Supper.—Mrs R. Wright. In the evening a number of songs were rendered by Miss Ruby Sole, Miss Dolly Sole playing the accompaniments and also playing a number of selections. A number of competitions were also deaided. the hat trimming being won by N. Knofflock; the nail driving by Miss E. Johnson, and the candle lighting by Miss Mawkes.
