LOYAL ORANGE LODGE.
ANNUAL SMOKE CONCERT. About eighty members and friends of the New Plymouth branch of the Loyal Orange Lodge, No. 26, met together in the Workers’ Hall on Saturday night on the occasion of the anniversary of the landing in England of Prince William of Orange, about 234 years ago. Bro. G. Gallaher presided, and a lengthy list was Jionored. During the evening a handsome cake and a box of cigars were disposed of with a view to defraying expenses. The cake went to Bro. H. McGahey last year, and this time his son, Bro. Harry McGahey, secured it. Bro. A. Hooker received the cigars. The toast list was as follows:—“The King,” the chairman, “The Grand Lodge,” P.M. Bro. A. Hooker, Bro. E. Payne responding; “L.0.L., No. 26,” Bro.’ H. Ward, D.M., and Bro. McPherson; “P.P.A.,’ Bro. McPherson and Mr. J, O. Taylor; “William, Prince of Orange,” Bro. A. Connett; “Ladies’ Lodge,” Bro. Harry McGahy; “Absent Brothers,” P.M. Bro. A. Hooker; “The Artists,” Bro. A. Connett; “The Guests,” the chairman; and “The Press,” Bro. J. B. Erskine. Musical items were contributed by Messrs. G. Bellringer, R. Bennock, J. B. Erskine, W. Lawrence, Goodrich, and F. P. Frederic.
