HYDRO-ELECTRIC POWER.
TARANAKI BOARD. MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Taranaki Electric Power Board was held at Eltham yesterday. Present. Messrs. 11. G. Carman. G. Sangster, C. J. Belcher, C. E. McGuinness, W. H. Were, and VV. V. Harkness. On behalf of the Hawera Electric Light Company, Messrs. Halliwell. Spratt and Thomson wrote taking e>:| caption to a statement made at the last meeting, and made public, that the company could not put on any more consumers. The latter stated that this statement was untrue and that if any persons had been refused current such refusal was made on other grounds than lack of current. or inability to put on more consumers. The board was asked to take steps to remove this wrong impression:—lt was decided that the board accept no responsibility for the statement and that the letter of protest be handed to the Press.
The Inglewood County Council forwarded a copy of a report and plans obtained early in 1920 on the hydro-elec-tric resources in the Inglewood county. The hope was expressed that the report would be of use, and it was asked that the cost of obtaining the report ( £54 14s 9d) be paid by the board.—The communication was received and the board accepted no responsibilitj 7 for the liability. The report and plans are to be returned. A deputation from the New Plymouth Borough Council, consisting of Mr. F. T. Bellringer, J. Brown, and F. G. Hill, and R. H. Bartley, waited on the board in connection with the supply of power from New Plymouth. Negotiations were conducted in committee and no definite conclusion was reached. The Elthain County Couni] submitted an account for expenses in connection with tho election of the district members to the board.—lt was decided to write to the council poining out that under the Act the board had not the power to pay the account. The Inglewood Town Clerk wrote asking permission to supply lighting to P. S. Nops’ residence, which was situated just outside the Inglewood borough, and within the board's district.— The matter was held over. It was decided, on the motion of Mr. Harkness, that no further action be taken with regard to Mr. B. TI. Horner’s scheme for the present.
