THE STRATFORD SEAT, (Contributed). Deepite the stormy night Mr. R. Masters’ .meeting at Tarata on Wednesday night was a.great success in every respect. The Liberal-Labor candidate dealt with various subjects, all of which received an attentive hearing. Mr. A. Higgins moved a vote of thanks to Mr. Masters for his able address, appreciation of his services as a member of the district during the last three years and confidence in him to represent the district in future in Parliament. This was seconded by Mr. F. C. Cowern, and carried unanimously. A vote of thanks -to the chairman (Mr. F. M. Standish) concluded a meeting that was a marked contrast to the previous meeting held by Mr. Masters at last election.

EGMONT SEAT. (Contributed). The Liberal-Labor candidate for the Egmont seat (Mr. Astbury) addressed the electors in the Mangatoki hall on Wednesday evening. Mr. H. Guy officiated as chairman. The candidate in opening his address explained what he considered the true meaning of the word or name Labor as attached to the Liberal Party, maintaining that he considered it was used in its widest sense, embracing mental and physical labor, whether on the farm, at the desk, or in the industries of the nation. Votes of thanks to the candidate and chairman closed a very interesting address. A strong committee was formed after the meeting to assist Mr. Astbury. A fair number of electors gathered at Okaiawa on Tuesday evening to hear Mr. Astbury. The speaker dealt trenchantly with the Massey Government. He was listened to attentively, receiving a vote of thanks for his able address at the end of the meeting, no questions being asked. A committee was formed to organise the district and assist towards Mr. Astbury’s return.
