Coghlan (Agent-General for New South Wales) has purchased for the Mitchell Library at Sydney the original' journal kept by William Wales, official astronomer on Captain Cook’s second voyage to Australasia. The journal, on which the publication of Captain Cook’s voyages is partially based, covers the period June, 1772, to October, 1774. CAUSE OF UNEMPLOYMENT. Received Nov. 2, 8.15 p.m. Geneva, Nov. 1. The International Labor Conference decided to make an exhaustive enquiry into the causes of unemployment.— Times Service.
