STRATFORD A. AND P. SHOW.

The attention of farmers and all others whose interests are catered for by the Stratford A. and P. Association is drawn to the society’s advertisement appearing in this issue. Apart from the benefits gained through exhibiting, the Stratford Association is offering exhibitors very liberal prize money ana exceptionally handsome trophies for competition in the various sections of the show. The horse section, beyond several improvements, very similar to former occasions. In the cattle, the Jersey classes are on a more attractive scale than formerly, and greatly strengthened by the addition of Messrs. Lovell and Christmas’ points trophy, valued at one hundred guineas. This/ trophy is at present on exhibition in Stratford, and it is hoped to place it on view both in New Plymouth and Hawera. The Friesian section has advanced in line with the increasing interest taken in the breed. The Stratford So-1 ciety has been exceedingly fortunate in replacing Mr. Campbell Jackson’s cup, which was won outright last year, by a trophy also valued at one hundred guineas and presented by Messrs. Joseph Nathan and Co., Ltd. Although the Shorthorn and Ayrshire sections are not numerically as strong in the Stratford district as the other two dairy breeds, the association has catered for them on exactly the same lines. The sheep section. which suffered through the adverse conditions prevailing last year, should show the result of the brighter turn events have been taking. An innovation the association has made in the big section is the inclusion of a series ofi classes for Berkshire pigs not entered in, the herd book. The industrial section< has been considerably improved, and includes additional clashes for honey, aj set of stainless steel carvers as points prize in the 'cooking classes, extra classes with valuable prizes for photorraphy, sewing, apt and woodwork. The junior section, which was a feature of ast year’s show, has been extended, xnd should be the means of adding interest to the younger portion of show exhibitors. Schedules may be had on ipplication to the secretary.
