MILITARY PARADE.
THE HIGH SCHOOL CADETS. THE RIDDIFORD CUP. The New Plymouth Boys’ High School has entered for the military competition in connection with the Riddiford cup. Yesterday afternoon, the boys were inspected hv the military authorities, consisting of Lieut-Col. J. H. Whyte, D.C.M.. D.S.O. (and clasp), Staff-officer, Central Commsnd; Cant. D. E. Bremner, M.C., No. 8 Group. Hawera, and Lieut. King, M.C., musketry instructor. The school officers on narade were Captain Papns. Ueuts. Bertrand. Marks, Dinrose and Eggleton. Sergt-Major Beil, who had instructed the boys, was also oil parade. There were 330 boys on parade, and they were put through military exercises for two hours, the drill including infantry training, musketry, platoon drill and physical training. The bearing of the boys throughout was good. The purpose of the competition was to pick out the best secondary school in the central command. The results of the cup competition wdl be available later.
