PARLIAMENT TO-DAY.

HARDER WORK AHEAD IMPORTANT BILLS READY. (By Wire. —Special Reporter.) Wellington, Last Night. Members will probably be called upon to work harder this week than they have been working previously during this session. There are many important measures which have still to be put through, and a speeding-up process is bound to commence very soon if members are to get back to their constituents in time to address a reasonable number of meetings before the elections. The Land and Income Tax Amendment Bill, the Amusements Tax Bill, the Land Laws Amendment Bill, and the Public Works Loan Bill are on the Order Paper, and they may get their second readings this week. The Bill relating to the proposed dairy pool must come down very soon, as it has to be referred to a committee which will take evidence upon it. An amendment of the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act is stated to be ready for introduction. It is understood to contain clauses providing for better control of trade union funds. On the Order Paper there are six Government Bills, including the Electric Power Boards Amendment Bill, awaiting consideration in committee.
