DOMINION LADIES' CHAMPIONSHIP. SATURDAY’S RESULTS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wanganui, Sept. 23< Th weather was dull and threatening this morning, when the New Zealand ladies’ golf championship tourney was continued, the second round of the championship being played. Fortunately the play in this round was eot through before any rain fell. Some fine golf was played, several of the games being splendidly contested. Principal interest centred in the game between Mrs. Guy Williams (the holder) and Miss Snodgrass. The latter put up a great fight, but Mrs. Williams secured the victory, being 2up on the last hole. Miss M. Payton (of Auckland) played a splendid game against Mrs. Dodgshun (of Dunedin), and ‘won by 3 up and 2 to play. Miss Cracroft Wilson (Christchurch), Miss McClure (Wellington), and Miss R. Wilson (Hutt) each had hard tussles to win their games, which they did by 1 up. Sixteen players are now left HbJor the third round, to be played on Monday morning. Details are:

Miss Gambrill (Wellington) beat Miss Brandon (Wellington), 7 and 5. Mrs. R. Kay (Napier) beat Miss Withers (Miramar), 3 and 2. Mrs. Guy Williams (Masterton) beat Miss Snodgrass (Rotorua), 2 up. Miss Marchbanks (Wellington) beat Miss McCormack (Auckland), 6 and 4. Miss V. McClure (Wellington) beat Miss Beadel (Christchurch), 1 up at the nineteenth. Mrs. McCarkey (Dunedin) beat Miss Acheson, 3 and 1. * Miss G. Wilson (Palmerston) beat Mrs. J. D. Abraham (Palmerston), 3 and 1. Mrs. Murphy (Wellington) beat Mrs. Slee (Westport), 4 and 3. Miss Cracroft Wilson (Christchurch) beat Mrs. J. A. Cook (Dunedin), 1 up at the niwteenth. Mrs. Grace (Wanganui) beat Miss M. Cooper (Auckland), 7 and 6. Miss M. Payton (Auckland) beat Mrs. Dodgshun (Dunedin), 3 and 2. Miss E. Brown (Napier) beat Mrs. Orbell (Oamaru), 5 and 2. The results in the 18-hole bogey match were as follow: First Division—Miss Watson (Palmerstoh), 2 up; Miss Dixcm (Christchurch), all square; Miss Matchbanks (Wellington), all square; Mrs.. Collinson (Palmerston), all square. Second Division: Miss Cave and MiSs Pearce (Wanganui) and Miss Culling (Auckland), 1 down.
NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI-FINALS. The semi-finals of the New Plymouth Club’s championship were played on Saturday, and resulted: W. H. Robertshaw beat D. H. Butcher, 2 up and 1. F. S. Johns beat A. Smith, 2 up. The final will be played next Saturday, NORTH v. SOUTH TARANAKI The following will represent North Ttftanaki at New Plymouth to-day, in the annual fixture against South Taranaki: Robertshaw, A. Smith, Mackay, Gudgeon, Wade, Weston, Elliott, Glasgow, Fowler, Hayhurst, Austin, Broome, Kendrick, M'Quade, Sampson, Thomson, Lovel, Carmine, Sutherland, Stephenson, Darlow, Andrews, Bloxam, Williams, Etherington, Marshall, Dalgleish, Burke, Waters. The South Taranaki team is: C'Oallaghan, Wright, J. Quin, Ryan, Walker, Elliott, Pulley, Ross, Stewart, Cox, Winter, Glasson, Salmon, Pratt, Dale, M’Donald, Jeffries, Beechey, Pago, Fallowes, Hay-Mackenzie, L. Walker, Rutherford, Carter, W. S. Gibson, Findlay, Duffill, Jones, Wilds, Ritchie. Play will commence at 8.45 a.m, HAWERA CLUB. In the final for the ladies’ championship of the Hawera Club, Mrs. Smith defeated Miss Burgess by 4up and 3. There were only two strokes difference on the match, Mrs. Smith doing the round in 101 and Miss Burgess in 103. Mrs. Smith has played good, consistent golf throughout the season, and has well earned her right to championship honors, says the Hawera Star.
