TIMARU-CHRISTCHURCH ROAD RACE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. There were 112 competitors in the Timaru to Christchurch road race yesterday. Results: W. Mackie (Ashburton), 40 min. handicap, 1; G. McKenzie (Ashburton), 40 min., 2; H. F. Prebbles (Christchurch), 30 min., 3; R. Feron (Ashburton), 36 min., 4; C. Bell (Christchurch), 35 min., 5; H. Arnst (Ashburton), 42 inin., G. The winner’s time was 6 hours 22 inin. 34 see.; McKenzie’s, 6 hr. 23 min. 20 sec., and Perbble’s G hr. 19 min. 12 sec. The prize for the fastest time was won by the veteran Phil O’Shea, whose time from scratch was 5 hr. 54 min. 23 sec. He gets the road championship of New Zealand. A VICTORIAN CHAMPIONSHIP. Received September 24, 5.5 p.m. Melbourne, Sept. 24. After a lapse of eight years, the 25 miles’ walking championship of Victoria was contested. It resulted: Lewis (Victoria) 1, Harrison (England) 2, Murray (Victoria) 3.
