Hoskins, G. Mather, J. Lash; emergencies, I’. O’Connor, F. Phillips. All card-players will regret to learn of the death of Mr. F. Richards, which occurred at 1 his residence. Avenue Road, on September 12. The deceased was a very staunch supporter of the Avenue Road Card Club: in fact he was the father of the club. In 1905, Mr. Richards and his sons inaugurated a triangular competition, in which Upper Mangorei, Carrington Road and Avenue Road played for a wooden cup. Friendly games were also played with the Fire Brigade Club. This competition continued until 1908. when the New Plymouth Association was formed, Mr. Richards taking an active part in its formation. He has been patron cf the Avenue Road Club since ita Inception. Many card-players will recall bfeppy evenings spent at the residence of thfe deceased. and the sympathy of all will be with his widow and family in their sad bereave-
