DEATH AT MEETING.

PRESBYTERIAN MINISTER’S END. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Masterton, Last Night. The Rev. J. Mackie, aged about 60, Presbyterian minister at Greytown, died suddenly to-night, while attending Dr. Armour’s prohibition meeting at Carterton. Just before the lecturer commenced someone heard Mr. Mackie gasping and asked him if anything was wrong, but he did not reply. He was carried to the back of the hall and a doctor was summoned, but he expired before the doctor’s arrival. The meeting continued without even the lecturer being aware of Mr. Mackie’s death. Mr. Mackie, who had cycled seven miles from Greytown, appeared to be all right. His family is in Dunedin, whence he came five months ago.
