SWIMMING THE CHANNEL.
TWO ATTEMPTS MADE. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyrighs London, September 3. Sam Richards and Charles Toth, Americans, started from Dover to swim the Channel on Saturday njght. Richards abandoned the attempt five miles from Cape Gris Nez, owing to the strong wind and heavy sea. Tom Morris, the Australian, did not start. Henry Sullivan (American) postponed his attempt.
