AMERICAN ATHLETES.
TOUR OF NEW ZEALAND. EARLY NEXT YEAR. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. ’ The .council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association met tonight. It wa* decided to approach the various affiliated centres in the matter of the proposed visit early next year of a team of American athletes. It i* proposed that when the mind of the district organisations ha* been obtained regarding the tour, the authorities will be asked to send out Paddock (world’* champion sprinter) and Thompson (winner of the 120 hurdles at the last Olympic game* and a distance runner). It was *tated the expense* of the tour would be about £6OO and that definite guarantees would have to be secured from local centre*. Meanwhile the Californian Association will be advised that a tour i* being arranged. The meeting fell in wit]i a suggestion from the Sport* Protection League for the establishment of a *port« club in Wellington, whidi would be useful to local and visiting athlete*.
