BOYS’ AND GIRLS’ CLUBS.
POULTRY-RAISING COMPETITION. A meeting of the New Plymouth Poultry Committee was held on Thursday evening, when, in accordance with the wishes of the northern executive controlling the Boys’ and Girls’ Club movement, supervisors in connection with the poultry-raising competition were appointed. Tt was reported that the competition had closed with unwards of 40 entries. Settings of eggs—White Leghorns, Brown Leghorns. Black Orpingtons and Minori cas—have been procured hy well-known poultry fanciers, and these will be collected from the : donors and distributed free to the competitors ■ as they secure broody hens. ; The supervisors were appointed as follows: Frankleigh Park.—>lir. J. Hamilton. ■ Vogeltown.—Messrs. A. T. Moore and G. 1 Wlcley. : New Plymouth Central.—Messrs. J. Eva and j F. James. i New Plymouth, West End.—Messrs. F. James ! and J. Cavaney. I New Plymouth, East End.—Messrs. J. K. Hawkins and C. Bellringer. Westown. —Messrs. A. P. Lister and J. Hamilton. Moturoa.—Messrs. H. Ward and G. Wigley. Fitzroy.—Messrs. J. K. Hawkins and C. Bellringer Avenue Road—Messrs. J. Eva and E. James. The supervisors, from time to time, will arrange to visit the competitors and. give them advice in the care and rearing of chicks, and in addition to this particular competition, which will be judged on ‘points, such, for instance. percentage of hatch, general care of the growing chicks and condition, cost of feed, etc. Arrangements have been made with the Taranaki Agricultural Society to provide a special classification for -a poultry show for the boys and glrla at the next winter show.
