THE SHIELD RETURNED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Napier, September 1. The New Zealand Hockey Association having ruled that the Hawke's Bay v. Auckland match on Wednesday was not a shield match on account of the delay in rhe Hawke's Bay challenge being received. th« Auckland team received the shield back this morning prior to leaving for Palmerston North. TOURNAMENT AT ELTHAM. A five-a-side hockey tournament was held at Taumata Park yesterday afternoon, under rhe auspices of the Eltham Men's Hockey Club, and proved most successful in every respect. The proceeds were in aid of the Blind Soldiers’ Fund, and as the Eltham club paid the whole of the expenses of the fixture, quite a good sum will be available for this worthy object. Eight teams participated, Inglewood A and B, Scouts, Eltham A, B and C, and Eltham Old Boys. The first round resulted: Eltham B 2, Inglewood B 0 ; Eltham A 1, Inglewood A 0 ; Stratford High School 2, Eltham Old Boys 0. Semifinals: Eltham B defeated Scouts; Eltham A 4. Stratford High School 0. Final: Eltham A 3, Eltham B 0. A six-a-side game was subsequently played between the Scouts team and a team of girls from the Stratford High School. The girls gave a nice exhibition, but lost by one goal
