BRITAIN’S HARVEST.
INFERIOR TO LAST YEAR PLENTIFUL OVERSEAS SUPPLIES. By Telegraph.—Pres* Assn—Copyright. Received Aug. 15, 5.5 p.m. London, August 14. The Daily Chronicle states that owing to persistent rains and cold nights, and the absence of midJune, the British wheat harvest is expected to be inferior to last year’s, both in quality and quantity, but while this will hit farmers hard, it will not be likely to affect the consumers owing to the plenteousness of overseas supplies. From present indications fair milling wheats are expected to settle down at about 50s. There are prospects of a cheaper loaf.
