TROOPS CROSS THE FRONTIER. By Telegraph.—Press Assn —Copyright. Athens, August 1. The British, French and Italian representatives handed the foreign Minister an identical reply to the Greek Note rejecting the Greek request for the | free passage of the Greeks to Constantinople, stating that the Commander-in-Chief of the Allied forces at Constantinople was ordered to oppose any Greek advance on Constantinople. The Turkish Foreign Minister presented a Note to the Allied High Commissioners. expressing the hope that all steps would be taken to prevent the violation of neutrality of Constantinople in view of Greek movements in Thrace. The Minister of-the Interior announced that he had received formal assurance from the Allied authorities ?gnrding the neutrality of the occupied territories. Constantinople. August 2. A British communique states: The Greek concentration of troops in Eastern Thrace continues. Military and naval preparations for resisting attempts to violate the neutral zone are proceeding. Greek cavalry crossed the frontier at Kunfali this morning- The Turkish police occupied a farm at Sarikeni. over the line of demarcation. A French officer has demanded explanations.
