TRAGEDY IN NEW YORK. SIX DEATHS CAUSED. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. New York, August 1. A sensation has been caused by the death of two girls and the illness of a hundred office workers who lunched in a restaurant in a Broadway skyscraperAll the victims became violently ill after eating huckleberry pie, which analysis revealed contained large quantities of arsenic. Charles Abrahamson, cook, who had been discharged by the restaurant, has been arrested on a charge of homicide. A third victim has died. Received Aug. 2, 10.40 p.m. New York, August 1There are now ©ix victims of the poisoned pie tragedy. It was first reported that Abrahamson had been arrested and charged with manslaughter, but later the district attorney revealed that he had only examined him and that Abrahamson had left his employment in the restaurant voluntarily and had not been discharged. The district attorney practically absolved him from responsibility.
