Mr. A. J. Gilmour, of the head office of the Labor Department, has been appointed Registrar of the Arbitration Court, vice Mr. Hammond.
Mr. D. W. Duthie bas been appointed advisory director of the National Bank in New Zealand. Mr. Alfred Jolly succeeds Mr.' Duthie as general manager.
Mr. Massey, vdio is suffering from a severe cold, was absent from Parliament yesterday. Sir William Herries acted as leader of the House. ,
A San Francisco cable states that Dr. Mary Harris Armoi* is sailing for New Zealand on August 4 for the prohibition campaign.
The New Zealand Herald records the death at Waihi on Sunday last of Mrs. Buddle, Die wife of Mr. W. D. Buddle, who is the son of the Rev. Thomas Buddle, one of the earliest Methodist missionaries in New Zealand.
Mr. A. R. Davis, chairman of the Autere Reserve Committee, lias, it is understood, been nominated for the vacanacy on the New Plymouth Borough Council caused by the resignation of Or. W. Rumball.
