It was decided to tender Mr. Edward Newman, M.P., a farewell banquet to which the Premier and members of Cabinet will be invited. Mr. P. A. De la Perrelle, chairman of the Southland Education Board and proprietor of the Winton Record, has decided to contest the Awarua seat in the Liberal interests (says an Invercargill telegram).
