WESTOWN TRAMS.

LOAN OF £19,000 REQUIRED. A POLL PROPOSED. At last night’s meeting of the New Plymouth Borough Council, the estimates of the tramways engineer and of the borough engineer in connection with the extension of the trams to David Street, Westown, were further considered. With expenses of loan flotation, first year’s interest and sinking fund, in addition to the engineer’s estimates, it was considered that a loan of £19,000 would be required. A formal resolution to submit such a loan for the sanction of ratepayers will be submitted at the next meeting of the council on the 7th instant.
