DAIRY MEETINGS.
WAI-TOI-TOI COMPANY. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The seventh annual meeting of the Wai-toi-toi Dairy Company takes place on Wednesday, August 9. when the bal-ance-sheet will be presented and two directors appointed in place of Messrs. Spun- and Willison, who retire by rotation. During the past season suppliers have been advanced 12%d per lb of butterfat, and a further payment of one penny per lb will be made over the whole year. Any further payment will depend upon the price realised for cheese unsold at the date of balance. This consists of three shipments on which 6d per lb has been drawn, and three at 5d per lbThat the district is progressing in the matter of settlement is shown by the fact that in 1920 there were only 16 suppliers, whilst in 1921 the number had increased to 23. and- during the past season the total was 28. The average test for 1922 was 4.12 per cent., as against 4.09 per cent, in 1921, and the average grades are distinctly good, being 90.45 for cheese, 87.87 for whey butter and 90.70 for creamery butter. The financial position of the company is excellent, and. taken* altogether, the prospects for the coming season should be most satisfactory, and although the prices will certainly not reach those of 1920-21, there is every reason to suppose they will average better than those prevailing during 1922.
