CARNIVAL WEEK.
EFFORT FOR. THE UNEMPLOYED. PIERROTS BEGIN TO-MORROW. The carnival week in New Plymouth organised by the Pierrots in aid of the unemployment fund, by which it is hoped to raise £lOOO, begins to-morrow. For every day of the week special functions have been arranged, while tickets for guessing competitions and a raffle for handsome prizes will be sold throughout the week. Public interest in the campaign has already developed, and it will be given an impetus to-morrow night, ’ when a monster procession will move from the Post Office corner at 7.30 to the hardup social at the Coronation Hall. On Wednesday an interesting attraction will be the Hawera-Tukapa football match at th© Pukekura Park -sports ground, while in the evening a community “sing” will be held in the Coronation Hall. Thursday night has been selected for a euchre party and dance. All day Friday the big effort of the week will be in progress—an elaborate Paddy’s market and butcher’s shop having been arranged. For Saturday afternoon the Plunket Society and the Croquet Club have arranged a children’s dance, and in the evening the finale to the carnival will be provided by a masquerade and confetti dance.
