IDLE EX-SOLDIERS.
WORK IN INVERCARGILL. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Invercargill, Last Night. The Returned Soldiers’ Association recently approached the Town Council and proposal a scheme to finance work to absorb unemployed ex-soldiers, the association providing a sum of £330 (a further fund being available if necessary) and the council subsidising the amount. The council has accepted the scheme and has adopted a programme of improvements to reserves, on which twenty ex-soldiers were set to work today. The number is likely to be largely-* increased. If many men offer work will be given on four days a week in order that relief may be continued as long as possible.
