CRACKS FOLLOW ’QUAKES.

FAULTS IN THE TAUPO DISTRICT, LOCALITY WELL SHAKEN By Telegraph. -Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Professor Marsden has received a report from Messrs. Ward and Stenberg, whom he left at Taupo to continue investigations, stating that they had gone over the ground to the Maparu stream, about six miles west of Taupo. They found a crack about a foot wide and two to four feet deep, and traced it 50 yards, and several smaller cracks, but larger than those at Oruanui. Another large fault was found 300 yards east of Mr. Napier’s house. They are also of opinion that the shore of the bay has subsided several inches, judging from the height of the water as compared with Its former level, when the water was lower. There were a number of slips, and the region had been well shaken.

MORE EARTHQUAKES. Rotorua, June 2> The earthquakes in the Taupo district are fairly numerous and strong.
