The potato market continues firm, and quotations to farmers at country stations are from £4 5s to £4 10s. Growers, however, are not offering very freely, preferring, now that the bulk of the crop Is in, to await the trend of tiie market. Supplies going North during the past week have not been up to the average. The Opihi sailed on Thursday with 4000-oda sacks. The Wanaka took a similar quantity from Tlmaru, and probably about the same to-day from Lyttelton, and the Wingatui *» due to leave on Friday with a short supply. These shipments represent less average supply for Auckland, especially after June the consumption of South Island ■! tubers increases, due to the disappearance of the last of the season's northern crop.
