White (Southland), J. Richardson (Otago), L. Williams (Otago), L. Petersen (Canterbury), O. Turpin (Canterbury), V. Goodall (Buller). Emergencies: Backs, Fitzgerald (Marlborough) , Reed (Nelson); forwards, Stewart (South Canterbury), C. Sontag (Otago). A PLAYER SUSPENDED. Wellington, June 21. During the progress of the Petone v. Berhampore Rugby match on Saturday the referee, .Mr. Evenson, ordered N. Mouatt, a. Berhampore forward, off the field for kicking M. Nicholls. The matter was considered last night by the management committee of the Wellington Rugby Union, when Mouatt denied he kicked Nicholls, as he was several yards away at the time. He asked to be allowed to call evidence, but the committee decided to accept tiie referee’s statement and to suspend Mouatt for three playing Saturdays. When he was informed of the decision Mou- ; att said: "The player who kicked Mark Nicholls offered to come here to-night to get me out, but I would not let hiun. I’m finished with foctbnll in Wellington. ’’ He added he was satisfied the committee had given him a fair deal on the evidence before them, but he contended it had been a case of mistaken identity.
