NEW RAILWAY SCHEME.
ROTORUA TO TAUPO. J <■ By Telegraph.—Press Association. Rotorua, Last Night. The Royal Commission under Mr. H. Buxton, of the Railway Department, sat here to-d&y to take evidence regarding the proposed Rotorua-Taupo railway. Evidence was given by R. King, chairman of the Tauranga Harbour Board, as to the necessity of building the line to Tauranga, the natural place for exporting from the hinterland. F. R. Bould. stock inspector, advocated. the railway, saying it would serve a district of roughly 2,000,000 acres. F. Dyson, district engineer, went into details as to the routes and the cost of the proposed railway. The line surveyed by himself would cost £600,000, that is £225,000 less than the other..
