FRIENDS WITH ALL.
THE POLICY OF, JAPAN. NEW PREMIER’S AIMS. ADVOCATE OF PEACE, By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received June 16, 5.5 p.m. Tokio, June 15. The new Premier (Admiral Kato), in his first statement, outlined the foreign and domestic policies of the new Government. The foreign affairs policy follows the line of hie predecessor. He will maintain and seek to constantly consolidate and improve friendship with all nations near and distant. The Government’s earnest hope was that China would soon emerge from her unfortunate internal conditions and achieve national unity through the efforts of her own people. Japan was sentimentally and materially interested in China’s welfare, as the welfare of Japan was, in a considerable measure, dependent on the peace and prosperity of her great neighbour. The new Cabinet would endeavour to expedite an amicable adjustment of Siberian problems. Briefly, the foreign policy was to co-opera tie 'with other Powers in the spirit and letter of the League of Nations’ covenant and the treaties and resolutions adopted at the Washington Conference. The domestic policy statement promises a tax for social reformsAdmiral Kato, in concluding, asks for the sympathy, confidence and help of the nations in his difficult task. Admiral Kato has also issued a statement that the Ministry aims at the establishment. of conditions which will permit still further reductions in world armament.—Aus.-N.'Z. Cable Assn.
