LAWN TENNIS.

THE KENT TOURNAMENT. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, June 12. The Kent lawn tennis championships, which is a full-dress rehearsal of Wimbledon, has opened. In the men’s singles the Frenchman, Gerbault, with difficulty defeated the New Zealander, E. L. Bartlett, who had newly arrived, 6—3, 7—4. Bartlett was out of practice, but exhibited a very fine forehand drive. The Frenelvman, mostly playing from the base line, made many errors through mistiming the ball.
