A few years ago Lord Edward Fitzgerald married Miss May Etheridge, an actress, simultaneously selling for a small sum his reversionary rights to his fathers (the Duke of Leinster) estates at. Carton, County Clare, to Sir H. Mallaby Decley, a member of the I House of Commons. At the time Lord > Edward had two elder brothers living, I and his chances of succession were very slight. One, the elder brother, was killed in the war, and the other died a few months ago, Lord Edward succeeding to the title and Sir H. Mallaby D - ley to the estates, including presumably £1,000,000 worth of London ground rents. When the staff and retainers at Carton received orders froin the new owner they solemnly adopted a resolution ex>pressing their intention of hoisting a red flag and running the domain, on SoJviet line*.—Aus.-N.Z.
